Refinishing of a XK 140 dhc wood set. Dated 18th
Feb 1955, original and unmolested.

Often I receive woodwork for these cars that has been previously
restored. Main issue with this wood is that they used contact cement
instead of the correct veneer adhesive. More on this set shortly.
  
   
   
Jaguar MkX/420G: Couple of before and after pics: Someone previously
had a go at this with paper backed Mappa burl and contact cement.
I'm sorry now that I did not get to take more before/after photos,

Regarding restoration of the XJS woodwork, I highly recommend
doing the complete car set of wood at the same time if a perfect
match throughout is desired. Below is what new ELM burl looks like.
You can see it is not the yellowed out wood so often seen in 1991
and certain 1980's XJS cars.
I can eyematch a new console to a customer supplied photo of their
dash, but it will NOT be a perfect match. The ONLY way to achive
this is to do the complete car set at the same time.
